St Thomas Primary School gets wet and wild for a great cause - kicks off fundraising
Media opp:
On Wednesday 31 May 9am - 10:30am, St Thomas Catholic Primary School will host its incredible Colour Splatacular School Run 4 Fun to raise much-needed funds for the school and coral planting for the Great Barrier Reef - ahead of World Reef Day on 1 June 2023.
Students, Principal Liam Beatty, teachers and parents including some AFL, NRL and Rugby Union footy star parents will get wet, wild and colourfully messy as part of the day’s fundraising challenge events - all in the name of raising $50,000 for new goals posts on the school’s ground.
Students will also have the chance to dunk their Principal!
“We’re so excited to be part of Colour Splatacular School Run 4 Fun! While I’m not overly looking forward to getting dunked - it’s all in the name of an incredible cause - raising funds for our school - and the Great Barrier Reef!” Principal Liam Beatty says.
The School has chosen to participate in Australian Fundraising Specialist’s Colour Splatacular School Run 4 Fun Go-Green partnership supporting the Great Barrier Reef Foundation - where a portion of the funds will go towards coral planting. It’s a topic the students have been studying n their classrooms.
Australian Fundraising General Manager Robert Gaydon says, “Our mission is to make it as fun and simple as possible for schools to raise money, while also having an incredible day out. And it’s even better when schools like St Thomas also choose to support the Great Barrier Reef with our partnership with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
Events throughout the day include:
Colour Splatacular School Run 4 Fun - classes running the obstacle course while getting covered in colour powder from the parents and teachers - including with former professional athletes Ben Mowen (Rugby Union), David Shillington (Rugby League) and Dan Merrett (AFL).
Students have the opportunity to dunk their Principals and teachers - students throw balls at the bullseye to dunk.
